La Montañita Co-op BlogOn ResolutionsDecember 31st, 2009 | No CommentsIt’s that time again. By tomorrow afternoon, if we’re awake, we’ll all be wondering how to burn off the Holiday indulgences, which will seem a little less justified. But this season has been about celebrating what remains: family, friends, food and warmth. And if we might suggest the first of your “get healthy” resolutions: look forward. You can’t un-eat all those tortillas, green chile stew, posole, turkey and cookies, and why would you want to? They were delicious! On the eve of the new decade, we’re bearing some good news: we’ve compressed all those healthy New Years resolutions into a handbook. The great news? It’s one page long. But don’t let the brevity fool you; it’s chock full of useful tips, achievable goals, and healthy enticements. It’s in the centerfold of our January newsletter – and right here. Getting Fresh with the PilgrimsNovember 19th, 2009 | No CommentsHey Gorgeous Green Bean, Let’s face it–the Puritans who settled the Plymouth Plantation in New England were a pretty bland group–in flavorless contrast to their Florentine contemporaries. So who do you think prepared the better food? The Italians, silly! So infuse your Thanksgiving feast with a little amore and ix-nay on that puritanical judgment, duty, & quiet uffering-say*. Revel in your full basket of fresh, rich ingredients from your local Co-op and indulge in treats you usually don’t have time for. The Co-op researches extensively, so you can be assured you’re always buying the best available quality, local & organic, and produced by nice, passionate people like yourself. Check out these specials: ![]() Coon Ridge Organic Goat Cheese You don’t have to go to the Mediterranean to dine on good chevre! Organic Coon Ridge Goat Cheese is local & delish! The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving are a great time to join me in avoiding your holiday preparations altogether! I’m not saying boycott Thanksgiving, I’m just saying give yourself a little love before the storm! Besides, you’ll probably be more efficient if you do everything at the very last minute anyway! I’m hosting my entire family this year but do you see me stressing out? Panicking at the thought of all the little mouths to feed? Succumbing to the outrageous culinary expectations I force on myself? Visualizing the inevitable heated debates between my anarchist brother-in-law and my republican Uncle? HECK NO! I’m spending this week in the meadows of earthly delights. And so should you, solider, your adrenal system could use a serious holiday!
Now don’t get all guilty on me. Although this might seem a little egocentric, remember our dollars are our strongest votes. When you shop the Co-op for products that promote the health & care of our bodies AND Mama Earth, you’re practicing straight-up altruism! Now, what can be wrong with that? Hugs to you in this week of bliss! XXOO, Nora ![]() Your Narrator in Repose |
